Ever since I was a child I've always been into making games. Of course I love playing them, but what I have always most enjoyed is making them. From the paper GameBoy I made when I was about eight (I drew out long levels on a "filmstip" that you had to pull through the "Gameboy" and move a cardboard character up and down...not very conventional!) I have always tried to find new ways of unleashing my imagination.

I wrote dozens of short stories (that my brother accidently threw out when I left for university...devastating!!) and made some monthly comic books for a while that I made sure were finished by the end of each month. I then went on to writing adventure game books, which eventually moved on to programming retro style games in QBasic (you can find some examples of this in the Miscellaneous section!), which then lead me to my first experiences in 3D using DarkBasic (using the same programming language as QBasic but utilising a 3D engine).

Finally, I found my true calling when I enrolled in Computer Games Design at university. Using 3DS Max helped me realised how I could let my imagination run wild and I haven't turned back since (although I really hope to get back to writing one day!) Studying at university involved making game levels, texturing models, creating characters and producing animations, all of which you can find included on this site (or at least, you can when it's fully completed!!)

After graduating with a 2:1 degree (slightly off of a first, but I won't complain...it won't eat away at me for the rest of my life...really...it won't!) I took a tangent and started working for a 3D interior design company, modelling many kitchen and bathroom suites, conferring with clients and working on the occasional animation. During this time, I have been working on some of my own work (mainly "Dark Sage") in order to develop what I learned at University.

From here on, I now plan to greatly improve the visual quality of my portfolio by getting to grips with advanced lighting techniques and MentalRay, and I already have a project in the works to utilise this, so what this space...!

It may seem like I haven't made much room for a life during all of this, but I'm definitely a follower of the "Work hard, play hard!" motto and love going out the various bars and clubs and enjoying the local nightlife...lol!

If you've read this far, thanks! If you'd like to get in touch with me, you can email me at curran_jack@hotmail.com and I'll get back to you!
