Welcome to the epitome of Retro-gaming!! Colony 2 is easily the oldest project on this site and was originally meant as tongue-in-cheek. It is completely coded in QBASIC (an old Microsoft programming language), which was started with a small amount of programming knowledge (gained from the previous "Colony"), but more about coding was learnt as the project went along. This is pretty easy to spot if you give the game a try, as the early levels are mainly text-based, whereas later levels are far more interative and even feature "cinematic" cut-scenes!

In the game, you play as an Agent of a universal government known as "Head Command" who has been sent to investigate some mysterious events occuring in the far-off Mandia system. However, whilst performing his investigation, the Agent realises that not only must he prevent an invasion of an evil alien force, but he must also diffuse an escalating political dispute back on Earth that he himself is the cause of. Alien invasion, civil war and deep-rooted secrets are all in a days work for this Agent though...surely??

Now you may ask yourself what happened to the original "Colony". Well, "Colony" was mainly a learning-curve project which involved bearly playable levels, so it's not exactly a game worth focussing on. However, you are able to unlock it (as well as other bonus features!) once you have completed the Colony 2.

Not only is "Colony 2" regarded as the oldest project on this site, it is also one of the most important for numerous reasons. For starters, it was the first interactive project ever worked on by the author, slightly prior to university studies, and was one of the main reasons for studing Computer Games Design. Also, Colony 2 can be regarded as the first episode of the "Seeking Fate Universe", a collection of intertwining stories that span hundreds of thousands of years of a fictional universe. Although much of it needs redrafting to fit in with the rest of the collection, the plot at the heart of the game remains pivotal to the series!
