"Numina" is the newest project featured on this website. Currently a Work-In-Progress, it will demonstrate skills implemented in previous projects (such as modelling / animating / editing / etc) as well as new skills including the use of advanced renderers and lighting, voice acting and normal maps created in Zbrush. Although in it's very early stages, you can view a teaser trailer below by Right-clicking on one of the images and selecting "Save-As". "Numina", like Liberation and Colony, closely ties in with the "Seeking Fate universe", a collection of intertwining stories that span thousands of years of a fictional universe. What follows is an brief background to the story...
"As a species, you strive to seek knowledge and understanding of all that surrounds you. Your ancestors have unlocked some of the secrets. Your descendants will most certainly uncover more answers. However, there will always be some mysteries that will eternally evade you. Mysteries that your psyches will never fathom. Knowledge that you are simply designed never to understand. What is pure nothingness? What was there before creation? What is the true purpose of life? Where is it all leading?
"I am here, at this very time, in this very era of your existence, to provide you with these answers. If you listen to my story, you will uncover your very meaning. You will begin to understand the forces that you might consider lie far beyond your control and understanding. Forces of which some of you have come close to describing, as close as your minds will allow. Forces that have always been aware of, whether it is through belief in religion, fate, luck or so on.
"The force you are actually looking for can be described, in your words, as “Numina”. Whether you believe in something beyond your realm of existence, or that you yourself control your own life, does not matter in the slightest. No matter what you believe, no matter what you do, it has all been orchestrated by Numina.
"Putting it into a linear perspective that you may find easier to understand, Numina were once in a constant, uneventful loop. An unfathomable mass of force that defines the “nothing” before time, space and everything else you understand that exists around you.
"However, something changed. Something significant in which two opposing forces were created. This opposition fractured the infinite loop of the Numina. In an explosion of unrelenting force, “creation” occurred, and a linear timeline came into existence; a new “battleground” for the Numina.
"The opposing forces are locked into a massive struggle in this new “existence”. One force continually tries to bring an end to this existence, thusly returning to an infinite loop of “nothingness”, whilst the other force tries to keep existence stretching into infinity along the linear timeline.
"The two forces of Numina, existing out of the bounds of time and space, eternally cultivate this existence, coordinating the fates of all matter; living or inanimate. This grand orchestration, the result of the two forces constantly and forever butting against one another, is what causes your very existence.
"I can tell you all of this, give you an incite to the knowledge you will never understand, because I am a Numen. I am The Numen, in fact. I tell you this because I have designed it this way. I tell you this because I have experienced “life” from your side of the mirror.
"The Numina are aware that you are simply puppets; a new battleground in the eternal battle. But I am here to tell you that you are so much more. I have orchestrated it this way. I have meant it to be so as you can bring a resolve to this battle. For where the Numina’s battlegrounds have gone from the existence of time and space, to the existence of life and on to the creation of consciousness, I am here to introduce the final battleground.
"So hear my story, awaken yourselves and you will be able to play your role. Listen well, for once my story has been told, my purpose is over, and your true charge begins…"
